President’s Monthly Message

June 2017

Cari Fratelli e Sorelle di Cellini,

As I came home from part of my vacation in Canada, I was greeted with the term ‘welcome home’ from the border crossing gentleman. Now, in the past I have been pulled over and had my car checked; the whole pat down and numerous questions pullover or just allowed to pass through. But hearing ‘welcome home’ for the 1st time was exhilarating as I am always happy when I come back to my great country – the United States of America. However, as I was riding down towards Bar Harbor, Maine, it made me think about how many military people have left home never to hear the words ‘welcome home’ again. I said a prayer for them and I will march in this year’s Memorial Day parade (and I hope you did too). I wrote about this important day in my May newsletter.

I do hope Mother’s Day on May 14 was enjoyable for all you moms.

My chosen quote states – Quando l’amico chiede, non v’è domain – and it was proven by an eblast I sent out for sister Valerie Hughes who was looking for a walker as she recuperates from her car accident. People responded to help her; in fact on the same day the eblast was sent, member Anna Hack directed her to a place for new and used walkers which Valerie was able to obtain cheaply. This is what Cellini is about: action to help a fellow member. This is fraternity, camaraderie, support, caring etc. If anyone needs help it can always be sent to our members through an eblast and hopefully someone can help with your needs; so please read your emails.

On the other hand, there has been less support for our events lately. General meeting attendance was down last month; 2 events have been cancelled due to low response. And while our Memorial Mass on May 8th had about 80 or so people attend, many were from America Lodge that co-hosted with us. I need to see more of you attend and support the Lodge’s efforts. Please email me or call me directly if you have been less active or are new and somewhat reluctant to participate. Find events you enjoy and just ‘do it.’

Let me be clear – I want everyone to enjoy being in this lodge and will do whatever I can to make you feel included and part of the Cellini family. I am also asking for all members to look for other members to join the lodge (I am sure you know somebody) as we want to keep the numbers and quality strong.

Back to the Memorial Mass – it was a wonderful night and a well run Mass where we honored our deceased and then chatted over coffee and cake.

The Grand Lodge had its walkathon on May 6 and I raised some monies from the lodge, so thank you who donated for Autism, Cancer and Alzheimer’s – not too many Cellini people there, so again please come to state events as we will always have someone representing Cellini and you can meet other good people from other lodges with a common goal of supporting charity. You didn’t have to walk and there was a free breakfast, noon BBQ and bocce tournament.

The delegates from our lodge will be attending the State OSIA Convention from June 1 – 4. This is an important function to see new leaders be announced and to learn the direction of the Order which we bring to you through meetings.

Summer starts on Wednesday, June 21 at 12:24 a.m. so happy summer!

Also during June is our Scholarship Night, Night at the Races and the Cellini Picnic – please look to the newsletter calendar for dates and mark your calendar as I look for your support for Cellini events. Quando l’amico chiede, non v’è domani. – When a friend asks, there is no tomorrow.

God Bless you and your family, God Bless our ancestors and heritage and God Bless America!

Cordiali Saluti,

Mark A. Ventimiglia
